A rare form of cancer called mesothelioma, mesothelial tissue malignant tumors in the lungs and stomach, after inhaling asbestos. rarity is one reason why many people do not know what kind of deadly disease. In fact, many people died of Mesothelioma diagnosed. Although now there is awareness about the dangers of asbestos to health, but many have not heard of Mesothelioma and thus did not understand the nature, causes, signs and treatment. Even some doctors are hard to detect Mesothelioma because its symptoms are similar to other diseases like lung cancer and pneumonia. In addition, it takes decades for patients who have been exposed to asbestos and mesothelioma - at most fifty years.
Mesothelioma ignore a higher risk due to impede the diagnosis and treatment. A person undergoing treatment must know the various stages of cancer or disease rates. Possible recovery from mesothelioma and the type of treatment depends on the stage of the disease. There are two main classification systems used for Pleural Mesothelioma (lungs): TNM system and the system Brighan. The system is also used in other types of cancers, but the one which is commonly used. There is no established method to determine the stage of the cancer peritoneal mesothelioma (abdominal) so the TNM system is used.
There are three variables in the TNM system: tumor, lymph nodes and metastases. In the early stages of Mesothelioma, mesothelioma stages of malignant cells begin to grow and multiply only one layer of the pleura. Pleura is the membrane that surrounds the lungs and lines the chest wall. However, there are some cases where the pericardium (pericardium) and close the diaphragm is affected. In this case, cancer patients are still in stage I mesothelioma.
In the second step, the two pleural layers are affected by Mesothelioma. However, please note that in this stage, only one side of the body is affected. Normally, the pleura produces only small amounts of lubricating fluid that facilitates the expansion and contraction of the lungs. Excess fluid is absorbed by the blood and lymph vessels so that there is a balance between the amount of fluid produced and removed. During the second stage of mesothelioma, fluid is placed between the membrane lining of the lungs and chest wall caused by pleural effusion. Increasing the volume of fluid produced causes shortness of breath and chest pain. Other patients experienced mesothelioma cancer and dry persistent cough. Diagnosis of pleural effusion is achieved by chest radiography.
Stage III Mesothelioma means that the malignant cells have spread to the chest wall, esophagus and lymph nodes on one part of the chest. Patients may suffer severe pain near the affected environment. If not treated immediately or when the mesothelioma patients do not respond well to medication, the cancer can advance to the fourth stage. The fourth stage Mesothelioma is great because at this stage the Mesothelioma cells have penetrated into the bloodstream and other organs in the body such as liver, bone and brain. Lymph nodes in the chest on the other hand can also be affected by mesothelioma stage IV.
Brighan staging system, on the other hand, determines whether the Mesothelioma operations can be deleted or not, and whether lymph nodes are affected or not. In stage I Mesothelioma, the lymph nodes are not affected and the patient can still recover through surgery. In Phase II, surgery can still be executed but some lymph nodes have been infiltrated by cancer cells. In Stage III, the heart and chest wall are affected, so that more desirable operation. Lymph nodes at this stage, however, may or may not be affected. At the final stage, Stage IV, mesothelioma, cancer cells had gone into the bloodstream and other body parts like heart, brain, bone and liver. In most cases, a patient who has reached stage IV Mesothelioma only has 4-24 months to live.
